National Law University (NLU) Delhi has published the AILET 2026 second merit list on January 21, 2026. Earlier, they published the AILET 2026 first merit list on January 8, 2026. They have notified the AILET counselling 2026 schedule on its official website - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. NLU Delhi prepares an invitee list of candidates for participation in the AILET counselling 2026 process in a ratio of three times the number of seats. The shortlisted candidates must register for counselling of AILET 2026 through the official website and pay the counselling registration fee. The AILET 2026 counselling registration fee is Rs. 30,000 for general candidates and Rs. 20,000 for candidates from ST/SC/OBC/EWS/PwD categories. Through AILET 2026 candidates will be admitted BA LLB (Hons.) and LLM programmes of the university. NLU Delhi will conduct four rounds of AILET 2026 counselling. After each round of counselling, NLU Delhi has published an AILET first merit list of selected candidates who will be required to complete the admission formalities to finalise their admission. The university may add more rounds of AILET 2026 counselling if seats remain vacant or if foreign seats are converted to general category seats. The students will be admitted based on their scores obtained in AILET 2026 result and corresponding rank. NLU Delhi conducted the All India Law Entrance Test on December 14, 2025 in offline mode.

Candidates have to meticulously follow all the steps in the counselling process of AILET 2026 to successfully gain admission. Below are the detailed steps in the NLU Delhi counselling process.
Publication of AILET 2026 Counselling Invitee List: After declaring the AILET 2026 result, NLU Delhi will prepare an invitee list of candidates shortlisted for participating in AILET 2026 counselling. The invitee list is prepared based on the candidate’s rank in AILET 2026. The number of candidates shortlisted for the counselling process will be three times the number of seats in each category. Candidates can check whether they are invited for NLU Delhi counselling by logging into their AILET account. NLU Delhi will also notify the shortlisted candidates on their registered email ID and mobile number.
Registration: Candidates are required to visit the official website - nationallawuniversitydelhi.in and register for the AILET 2026 counselling through their login. The candidates are required to pay the prescribed counselling registration fee and upload the required documents. The AILET 2026 counselling registration fee is Rs. 30,000 for general/J&K candidates and Rs. 20,000 for SC/ST/EWS/OBC candidates. Only those candidates who pay the fees and register for counselling will be considered for seat allotment.
Publication of Merit List: The third step in AILET counselling 2026 is the publication of the AILET 2026 merit list. The university has published the first merit list of NLU Delhi counselling. Candidates can check the merit list by visiting the university’s official website.
Payment of Admission Confirmation Fee: The last step in the counselling process of AILET 2026 is the confirmation fee payment. The AILET merit list is provisional. Candidates who are included in the AILET merit list are required to pay the admission confirmation fee of Rs. 50,000 within the stipulated deadline to confirm their admission. After the admission confirmation fee is paid, the candidate will be issued a provisional admission letter. The candidate is required to sign each page of the admission letter and upload it to their AILET account.
The number of candidates invited for AILET counselling 2026 is three times the number of seats. After the declaration of the AILET 2026 result, NLU Delhi prepares an AILET 2026 invitee list based on the AILET 2026 scores. Such candidates will be sent an email and SMS informing them of being shortlisted for AILET counselling. The candidates can also check the counselling invitation through their login.

Make online payment of the counselling registration fee through Credit/Debit Card, Net-banking, or UPI
Next, upload a self-attested copy of the required documents in PDF format to complete counselling registration.
Class 10 and 12th mark sheets
Character Certificate (not more than 6 months old)
TC/Migration certificate
Category certificate (for reserved category candidates)
The various fee components in the AILET 2026 counselling process include the counselling registration fee, confirmation fee and the university fee. The university fees to be paid at the time of admission are adjusted against the counselling registration fee and the confirmation fee already paid by the candidate.

The counselling registration fee will be refunded to those candidates who registered for the AILET 2026 counselling process but could not secure a seat. The AILET counselling fees will be refunded to the same bank account from which it was paid.
Candidates are allotted seats in AILET 2026 counselling as per their ranks obtained in the AILET 2026 exam. However, if two or more candidates have the same score, then the following tiebreaker rule is applied to rank the candidates.
The candidate with a higher score in the logical reasoning section will be ranked higher.
If the tie persists, then the senior candidate in age will be assigned a higher rank.
If the tie remains unresolved, then computerised lots will be drawn to determine which candidate will be assigned a higher rank.
