TS LAWCET Exam Pattern 2026: Total Marks, Negative Marking, Marking Scheme
Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) prescribed the TS LAWCET exam pattern 2026 on its official website. The TS LAWCET 2026 exam pattern lays out the exam structure, including the sections, total marks, marking scheme and duration of the exam. As per the TS LAWCET 2026 paper pattern, the question paper will have 120 questions of one mark each. The duration of the TS LAWCET 2026 exam will be 90 minutes. The three sections in the TS LAWCET 2026 syllabus have different weightage and mark distribution in the exam pattern of TS LAWCET 2026. The LAWCET question paper pattern for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB is similar. The difference in the TS LAWCET 2026 exam pattern for 3-year and 5-year law programmes exists only in the difficulty level. TGCHE will conduct the TS LAWCET 2026 tentatively in the first week of June 2026 in online mode. Through the TS LAWCET, candidates will be admitted into law colleges accepting TS LAWCET scores for admission to 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB programmes.

TS LAWCET 2026 Exam Pattern - Sections
The TS LAWCET syllabus 2026 is divided into three parts spread across 120 questions. The sections are the same in the TS LAWCET question paper for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB. The difficulty level of TS LAWCET 3-year LLB is of graduation level, while the difficulty level of TS LAWCET 5-year LLB is of intermediate level. The three parts of the TS LAWCET 2026 syllabus are explained below.
Part A - General Knowledge and Mental Ability: The GK section tests candidates' general awareness about different fields such as history, economics, geography and the ability of candidates to apply logical reasoning. This section has 25% weight in the syllabus.
Part B - Current Affairs: These questions in this section evaluate the candidate’s knowledge about the latest news from the national and international arena. The current affairs section has 25% weight in TS LAWCET 2026.
Part C - Aptitude for Study of Law: The legal aptitude section tests the candidate’s basic knowledge about the legal system and its history. The questions focus on important judgements, fundamental rights, and elementary knowledge about different laws. This section has the maximum weight in TS LAWCET exam pattern at 50%.

TS LAWCET 2026 Exam Pattern - Important Points
The TS LAWCET question paper pattern consists of a total of 120 questions divided into three sections in the manner mentioned in the table above.
The exam will be conducted in online mode over a time duration of 1.5 hours.
The TS LAWCET total marks is 120.
There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the exam pattern of TS LAWCET 2026.
There is no difference in the TS LAWCET exam pattern 2026 for admission into 5-year LLB and 3 year LLB. However, the difficulty level expected from the former is of Intermediate level and for the latter, the difficulty level will be of graduation.
The questions will be in the form of multiple-choice questions with four options numbered as 1, 2, 3 and 4.
The question paper will be set both in English and Telugu or English and Urdu.
The TS LAWCET 2026 qualifying marks is 35% to be eligible for ranking. However, there is no minimum qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates.
