    About CLAT PG 2026

    The Consortium of NLUs (CNLUs) has released the CLAT PG 2026 second merit list on January 22, 2026. Candidates included in the merit list could either accept, float or exit their allotted seat. Once their choice of seat is allotted, they can complete their admission by paying the confirmation fee and admission fee as prescribed. The last date to pay the CLAT LLM 2026 confirmation and admission fee for the second round of counselling is January 29, 2026. The CLAT 2026 PG third merit list will be released on February 5, 2026. 


    The Consortium of NLUs closed the CLAT PG 2026 counselling registration window on December 27, 2026.  The scores of CLAT LLM 2026 will be accepted by 26 NLUs and IIULER Goa. Additionally, IIULET Goa, which is part of the CLAT consortium and several affiliated law schools, will accept CLAT PG scores for admission to LLM courses. The total intake in NLUs through CLAT PG seats is over 1591. It must be noted that NLU Delhi and NLU Meghalaya do not participate in CLAT. CNLU Patna has its separate admission process for its LLM programme.

    CLAT LLM 2026 - Test details

    The national-level law entrance exam, CLAT LLM, is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) in offline (pen and paper) mode. It is a common entrance test for admission into LLM programmes of participating national law universities. CLAT PG is one of the most competitive law entrance exams in India.

    As per the exam pattern of CLAT PG, the test includes MCQs from various areas of law. There are 120 questions. Each question will carry one mark, and each incorrect answer will invite a penalty of -0.25 marks. Candidates should check the CLAT 2026 syllabus for PG before starting the exam preparation. For preparatory purposes, candidates can refer to the previous year's CLAT PG question papers.

    CLAT PG Exam Eligibility Criteria 

    In order to be eligible for CLAT PG, candidates must have completed a five-year or a three-year LLB. The minimum passing marks are 50% for general and OBC candidates and 45% for SC and ST candidates. Final year LLB candidates are also eligible to apply, provided that they submit their qualifying certificates at the time of admission.

    Applicable for JAG

    The Indian Army will conduct Indian Army JAG recruitment through the CLAT 2026 examination. The CLAT PG scores will be used for the SSC (NT) JAG entry scheme, 34th course. It is to be noted that the previous year's CLAT score is considered for the recruitment of Judge Advocate General, Indian Army.

    CLAT PG Common Law Admission Test for LLM (session 2026)

    The Consortium of National Law Universities has opened the CLAT PG application form 2026 on August 1, 2025. Candidates can apply online from the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Before filling out the CLAT PG 2026 registration form, candidates must check the CLAT PG 2026 eligibility criteria. The deadline to submit the CLAT PG 2026 application form is October 31, 2025. The CLAT PG 2026 application fee is Rs. 4,000 for the general category and Rs. 3,500 for SC/ST candidates. The CLAT PG 2026 exam date is December 7, 2025 from 2 pm to 4 pm. The application form for CLAT LLM 2026 has to be filled out by following the steps mentioned below.

    How to fill CLAT PG Application Form 2026:

    • Online Registration: To register online, the candidate has to create an applicant account by entering details like name, phone number, and email id. On successful registration, a password will be generated for the new account.   

    • Filling of application form: Next fill in various sections like personal details, correspondence, and address details. Also, select the course of study.

    • Providing NLU preferences: One of the important steps when submitting the CLAT PG application form 2026 is providing NLU preferences. Candidates must provide their NLU preference list in order of priority. They can get admission in only those NLUs which are part of their preference list.

    • Uploading of documents: In this step, candidates have to upload scanned photographs, signatures, and domicile certificates as per the format specified in the table below:

The online payment options through which fees can be paid are net banking, credit, or debit cards. The CLAT PG application fee 2026 for general/OBC candidates is Rs 4000.     The NLU consortium provides official CLAT PG 2026 eligibility criteria on its official website.     The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will release the CLAT PG provisional answer key 2026 a day after the exam is over on its official website. Candidates will be allowed to raise their objections against the provisional answer key of CLAT PG 2026. The objection window will be open for a specific period of time.  After considering the valid objections, the final answer key of CLAT PG 2026 will be released one week after the exam is finished.

    The CLAT PG 2026 provisional answer key can be used by candidates to calculate their probable scores. For calculating marks, refer to the official marking scheme. In case the candidate feels like there is any discrepancy in any of the keys, they may challenge the provisional key(s) within a given time frame on payment of a fee. Exam officials will notify a window during which challenges can be filed.

    All objections are considered by the consortium before officials release the final answer key of CLAT PG 2026. An important distinction between the final and provisional keys is that the keys mentioned in the provisional key can be challenged, but no challenges to the final keys are entertained.

    The exam conducting authority will declare the CLAT PG 2026 result in online mode one week after the exam.  Candidates will be able to check the CLAT PG result 2026 through their login. CLAT 2026 result is available at the official consortium website in the form of scorecards, which include details like the score obtained by the candidate, AIl India Rank (AIR), and category of the candidate.

    Preparation of CLAT PG merit list

    The marks obtained by candidates in the CLAT PG exam will later be used to prepare the CLAT PG merit list. This merit list will be further used for counselling and the seat allotment process. In cases where two or more candidates will score the same marks in the CLAT PG 2026 exam, the consortium of NLUs will use a tie-breaking procedure to decide the merit rank.  

    The CLAT PG 2026 cutoff is the minimum rank or score that a candidate will have to secure in order to get admission to the LLM course at any of the participating NLUs. The CLAT PG cutoff 2026 will be category-specific and released separately for the NLUs. The CLAT PG 2026 cut off will be available through the CLAT PG merit list published by the consortium.

    Candidates will be required to meet the cutoff criteria (based on their categories) for the applied institute to be considered for admission. Candidates failing to meet the cutoff will not be considered qualified for further admission.

    The Consortium of NLUs will start the CLAT PG counselling 2026 registrations tentatively a week after the exam. Candidates will be able to register online on the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates who have a valid score in CLAT PG 2026 can register for CLAT PG counselling 2026 through their login.  The CLAT PG 2026 counselling process will be conducted in five rounds. Only those candidates who clear the CLAT PG 2026 cut-off for each round will be able to participate in the counselling process of CLAT PG 2026.

    Steps to complete CLAT PG Counselling Registration

    • Log on to the official website of CLAT - consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

    • Log in to your CLAT 2026 account through your mobile number and password 

    • Next, click on the “Make Payment” option.

    • Enter the payment and details such as bank account number, IFSC code, etc and make the payment.

    • Upon successful payment and regeneration of the payment receipt, the CLAT PG counselling registration process will be completed.
