Top Law Colleges in India accepting CLAT Score 2026
The Common Law Admission Test is one of the most popular law entrance exams in India. It is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) for admission to 5-year integrated LLB and LLM courses at NLUs. However, being a national-level law entrance exam, CLAT also widely accepted by law schools across the country. Apart from 24 NLUs, over 60 government and private law schools accept the scores for CLAT for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.

The general eligibility criteria to get admission to top law colleges in India that are accepting CAT scores are mentioned below:
Integrated LLB: Candidates must have completed their higher secondary education from a recognised board. The qualifying marks are 45% for the general category and 40% for the reserved categories.
LLM: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in law from a recognised university. The qualifying marks of 55% for the general category and 50% for the reserved categories

Top Government Law Colleges Accepting CLAT other than NLUs
Other than NLUs, CLAT is also accepted by several government law schools. The most popular among those are the Faculty of Law, Delhi University and IIM Rohtak. Delhi University offers BA LLB and BBA LLB courses, whereas, IIM Rohtak offers a BBA LLB programme. Here are the top three government law colleges other than NLUs that accept CLAT scores.

Admission process of the top law colleges in India that are accepting CLAT
The candidates must apply for the Common Law Admission Test conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. The CLAT application form for the test is released by the conducting body in the month of July.
The CLAT is conducted once a year in December in offline mode.
Once the results of the entrance test are declared, the consortium conducts the CLAT counselling for the shortlisted candidates.
Candidates who appear in the counselling are considered for the seat allotment in the NLUs.
For other participating law colleges, the candidates have to apply directly to the respective college. The college grants admission to the candidates based on their CLAT scores.
