    The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the CLAT 2026 UG third allotment list on February 25, 2026. It was earlier scheduled to be published on February 5, 2026. The consortium has also posted the new CLAT 2026 counselling schedule for the third round. The dates for the fourth and fifth CLAT 2026 UG counselling processes remain the same. The CLAT 2026 PG third merit list was released on February 5, 2026. Earlier, they published the CLAT 2026 second merit list on January 22, 2026. Candidates in the CLAT 2026 second merit list are eligible to participate in the second CLAT 2026 counselling round. Such candidates must accept the allotted seat and pay the confirmation fee for admission before 1:00 PM on January 29, 2026. Earlier, the CLAT 2026 counselling registrations closed at 10 PM on December 27, 2025. Candidates who were invited for counselling registered themselves on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. They were required to fill out their personal and academic details, upload the prescribed documents, pay the counselling fee, and submit their NLU preference list for 2026. Those who are included in the merit list are included in the CLAT 2026 admission process for admissions into 5-year LLB and LLM programmes of 24 NLUs and 60+ affiliated colleges. The CLAT 2026 exam was held on December 7, 2025 (Sunday) from 2 pm to 4 pm.

    CLAT 2026 Exam

    The CLAT exam 2026 was held for admission to 24 NLUs and IIULER Goa. Additionally, there are over 60 affiliated law colleges across the country that accept CLAT scores for admission to LLB and LLM programmes. CLAT 2026 was conducted in offline mode at exam centres in 131 cities across India. The CLAT UG candidates are asked questions on general knowledge, current affairs, legal aptitude, English, maths and logical aptitude. On the other hand, CLAT LLM question papers are designed to assess candidates' legal knowledge. Candidates can gain admission into 5-year LLB programmes by appearing in the Common Law Admission Test. On the other hand, they can gain admission into LLM programmes by appearing in the Common Law Admission Test-PG.

    The consortium has released the CLAT 2026 PG third merit list on its official website on February 5, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

    CLAT 2026 Third Merit List Postponed

    The consortium has postponed the CLAT 2026 third merit list after hearing the Allahabad HC orders on the revision of the CLAT 2026 results.

    CLAT 2026 Second Merit List Out

    The consortium has started the CLAT 2026 counselling process. The authorities have released the second round of merit list on their official website on January 22, 2026.

    CLAT 2026 First Merit List Released

    The Consortium of NLUs has published the first round of merit lists on their official website as of January 7, 2026.

    Change of NALSAR Reservation Category

    NLU Hyderabad has divided the SC-TL category into three subgroups: SC-TL (Group I), SC-TL (Group II), and SC-TL (Group III). Earlier, candidates who had selected the SC-TL category are now requested to check the Telangana State Rationalization of Reservations document, identify the correct sub-group and update the same in their reservation category through the CLAT 2026 portal. It is applicable for both UG and PG candidates. The last date to update the reservation category is December 1, 2025 until 11:59 PM.

    CLAT 2026 Admit Card OUT

    The Consortium of NLUs has issued the CLAT 2026 hall tickets on November 22, 2025. Candidates who had completed their registration before the last date can download the admit card for CLAT 2026 until 1:30 PM on December 7, 2025.

    Expert Committee Constituted To Recommend Reforms to CLAT 2027

    The Consortium of NLUs has formed an Expert Committee to suggest medium- and long-term reforms for both CLAT UG and CLAT PG, effective from CLAT 2027. The Committee comprises some of the leading legal academics from the University of Oxford, LSE School of Law, Columbia Law School, University of Cambridge and BML Munjal University.

    CLAT 2026 Official Sample Paper Release Update

    The Consortium of NLUs has released the CLAT official sample papers on November 27, 2025. This resolves the delay students faced this year in getting official sample papers. Students can now download it from consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Earlier, the Consortium said no release was guaranteed. Last year, they released 2 papers. In 2023, the consortium released 3 papers to help with preparation and pattern understanding.

    The Consortium of NLUs has closed the CLAT 2026 application form on November 7, 2025. Candidates could submit the CLAT application form 2026 from the consortium’s official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in. To submit the application form of CLAT 2026, candidates must follow steps such as registration, filling out the application form details, and payment of the application fee. The consortium has closed the CLAT 2026 application form correction window, and registered students could update their exam city preferences and edit their details by November 9, 2025. Earlier, the CLAT 2026 application form was opened on August 1, 2025.

    Steps to Complete CLAT 2026 Application Form

    Candidates must visit the official website- consortiumofnlus.ac.in to submit the CLAT application form. Given below are the various steps involved in the submission of the application form of CLAT.

    Step 1: Registration

    Candidates must first complete the initial registration to generate CLAT login credentials which is the first step in the CLAT application form 2026 process. The candidates will be required to provide their email ID and mobile number to set up their CLAT 2026 account. Candidates must preserve these login credentials as they would need to log in to their account at various stages of the CLAT 2026 admission process such as downloading the CLAT admit card, checking the CLAT result, and registering for CLAT 2026 counselling.

    Step 2: Filling up details in CLAT 2026 application form

    The second step in the CLAT 2026 application process is to fill up the details in the application form. These details include the following:

    • Personal details: This includes providing personal information regarding one’s name, parent's name, date of birth, and category.

    • Educational qualification: The candidate has to provide details about their educational qualification, namely class 10 and Class 12 details.

    The next step for the candidate is to provide the CLAT 2026 exam centre preferences. A candidate can provide a maximum of 3 choices in the order of their preference. The consortium will allot the exam centre after considering the availability and the preferences submitted by the candidate.

    Step 4: Payment of CLAT 2026 application fee

    CLAT 2026 Answer Key

    The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the CLAT Final answer key on December 16, 2025. The provisional answer key was released on December 10, 2025. Candidates were allowed to submit objections against the provisional answer key until 5 PM on December 12, 2025, after paying the prescribed objection fees. After considering all valid objections, the Consortium published the final, definitive CLAT 2026 answer key, which is now available for download on the official Consortium of NLUs website. The final answer key will be the basis for calculating the results, which are expected soon.

    CLAT 2026 Counselling Process

    The Consortium of NLUs has notified the CLAT counselling schedule on its official website. It has closed the counselling registrations on December 27, 2025 at 10 PM. Candidates can register for the counselling through their login after paying the counselling registration fees. Candidates must also provide their NLU preferences at the time of counselling registration. The consortium usually conducts five rounds of CLAT counselling. It will publish the CLAT merit list for each round of counselling. It has released the CLAT 2026 first merit list on January 7, 2026.

    Candidates shortlisted in the CLAT 2026 merit list are required to accept the seat by paying the confirmation fees. Later, the candidates must also pay the university fees within the prescribed deadline. to finalise their seat allotment.
