CLAT 2025 Counselling to Begin Soon? Judgment expected on April 23

When Will CLAT UG Judgement Come?

The Delhi HC will issue the CLAT UG judgement on April 23. After concluding the CLAT UG hearings, the Delhi HC reserved the judgement for the cases without specifying any date. There are no specific rules about when a reserved judgement should be released. However, during the CLAT UG hearings the HC had acknowledged the urgency of the matter and expressed its commitment to resolve the matter as fast as possible. It remains to be seen whether HC pronounces the judgement in the CLAT UG matter on May 2 or before that.

As per the existing rules, candidates have the option to request faster judgement if the judgement is not released 3 months after it was reserved. If the judgement is not released 6 months after it was reserved, the petitioners can file a prayer to transfer the cases to a different bench.

CLAT PG Cases Listed for May 2 Hearing

At present, there are three cases in CLAT PG 2025 listed for HC hearing on May 2. The three cases had been listed from items 5 to 7 in the April 21 hearing but did not come up despite their early schedule. The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Updadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela were occupied with the cases from the supplementary cause list and were unable to take up the CLAT PG cases.

CLAT 2025 Counselling to Start Next Month?

The Consortium of National Law Universities has delayed the start of CLAT 2025 counselling and the publication of the CLAT 2025 merit list. It is also challenging the petitions filed by the candidates. With the CLAT 2025 hearings now being moved to May 2025, it is expected that the CLAT counselling process is also likely to start only next month. However, the judgement in for CLAT UG cases is scheduled to come on April 23.

It also remains to be seen if the CLAT 2025 results are revised, whether the Consortium will open the counselling registrations and allow the candidates to file fresh NLU preferences as per the revised result.
