Delhi High Court Upholds CLAT 2025 Judgment Given by Single Judge

Delhi High Court Upholds CLAT 2025 Judgment Given by Single Judge

On December 24, the Delhi HC upheld its earlier verdict delivered on December 20 on CLAT 2025 final answer key. The court was hearing the petition filed by Consortium of NLUs which sought to challenge the earlier verdict. The consortium had argued that the CLAT answer key was examined by experts and the court had no business in interfering in the conduct of the exam by assuming the role of an academic expert. However, the court rejected this plea and directed the consortium to publish a revised CLAT 2025 result. Read on to get more details on the Delhi HC judgment on the CLAT 2025 answer key.

Which are the two questions under consideration?

The two questions are questions no. 14 and 100 in the CLAT 2025 Set A answer key. While the correct answer to question 14 was changed to option C, question 100 was withdrawn as none of the given options were correct. This modification in the CLAT 2025 answer key is likely to impact the CLAT result. The consortium may have to delay the publication of the CLAT 2025 merit list with this judgement.

What Did the Delhi HC Say in the December 24 Hearing on CLAT Answer Key?

The HC had made several observations for the two questions under consideration and admonished the consortium for its shortcomings. During the hearing the court asked the consortium if two committees had indeed examined the answer key then it is not clear, what the expert committee was looking into (given the errors). The court went on to say that the earlier verdict passed by the single-judge bench was correct.

    Question 14 (CLAT 2025 Set A)

With regards to question 14, the judge said that a candidate is expected to answer based on the comprehension of information given in the passage and not based on the legal knowledge.

The court further questioned the consortium and demanded to know, what is the consortium trying to test the candidates on. Is it the comprehensive skills of the candidates or their legal knowledge when the question is regarding the English passage?

    Question 100 (CLAT 2025 Set A)

In the case of question 100, the court said that if all four answers are incorrect it cannot be said that one of these incorrect answers is correct. Court further questioned the consortium’s stance saying that if all four answers are wrong then is the candidate expected to choose the closest wrong answer?
