CLAT 2026 expected to be held on December 07; Check exam details here
The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will announce the CLAT 2026 exam date in the CLAT 2026 notification on its official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT 2026 is expected to be held on the first Sunday of December which falls on December 7, 2025. As per the past year's trend, the Consortium of NLUs conducts the CLAT every year during the first week of December. The exam timings for CLAT 2026 will be from 2 pm - 4 pm.
Around 60,000 candidates are expected to appear for CLAT UG and 10000 candidates are expected to appear for CLAT PG 2026. Candidates can gain admission into 5-year LLB programmes through CLAT 2026 and get admission into LLM programmes by appearing in the Common Law Admission Test-PG. Currently, 24 NLUs are participating in CLAT, which together offer around 3400 seats in 5-year LLB and around 1300 seats in LLM. The table given below provides the dates for CLAT 2026 and the dates given are tentative and will be updated upon release of official notification.

CLAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The Consortium of NLUs prescribes the CLAT eligibility criteria 2026 on its official website. The CLAT 2026 eligibility criteria include requirements about the minimum educational qualification, minimum passing marks, and age limit. If candidates do not fulfil the CLAT eligibility criteria then they will be disqualified.

CLAT UG 2026 Eligibility Criteria | There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for CLAT UG 2026. Passed Class 12 with at least 45% marks or 40% marks or equivalent in the case of SC/ ST/ PwD categories. Candidates appearing for Class 12 exams are also eligible to apply and they are required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission. |
CLAT PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria | Passed LLB (3-year LLB or 5-year LLB) with at least 50% marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/NRI categories (45% in the case of SC/ ST/ PwD candidates). Candidates appearing for final year graduation exams can also apply. There is no upper age limit for appearing for the CLAT PG 2026. |
CLAT Application Form 2026
The CNLUs will open the CLAT 2026 application form tentatively in the third week of July 2025. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can fill out the CLAT 2026 application form 2026 on the official website. The application form for CLAT 2026 includes providing personal information, communication, education details, and test centre preferences.
CLAT 2026 Registration: Complete the initial registration to generate CLAT login credentials which is the first step in the CLAT application form 2026 process. The candidates will have to provide their email ID and mobile number to set up their CLAT 2026 account.
Filling out the details in CLAT 2026 application form: Here candidates are required to fill up the details in the application form and these details include: personal details, educational qualification, communication details and uploading documents.
Providing CLAT exam centre preferences: In this step candidates are required to provide the CLAT 2026 exam centre preferences. A candidate can provide a maximum of 3 choices in the order of their preference.
NLU Preferences: The candidates are required to submit their CLAT 2026 NLU preferences at the time of submitting the application form. The candidates would be considered for admission in those NLUs that they have included in their CLAT NLU preference list.
Payment of CLAT 2026 application fee: The very last step of the CLAT 2026 application process in the CLAT 2026 application process is the payment of the prescribed CLAT application fee. The below table includes the CLAT 2026 application fees.

CLAT Syllabus 2026
The CLAT 2026 syllabus includes five sections namely English, current affairs including GK, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques. However, the syllabus of CLAT PG 2026 includes topics on different areas of law. Candidates can go through the syllabus of CLAT 2026 in the below table:

CLAT 2026 Exam Pattern
The CLAT exam pattern 2026 will provide important details about the CLAT 2026 exam such as the type of questions, total number of questions, CLAT marks distribution, mode of exam, duration etc. In CLAT paper pattern 2026 there will be a total of 120 multiple-choice questions spread over five sections. The CLAT exam pattern includes 4 to 6 passages in each section which are then followed by multiple-choice questions based on the passage. Each question in CLAT 2026 carries one mark and there will be negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
